ABSTRACT
A preliminary study using Microarray hybridization for miRNA profiling from rat liver and thyroid tumor tissues was undertaken to understand their level of expression in tumor tissues compared to the normal tissues and data was generated on their level of expression and their extent of regulation of common cell cycle biomarkers involved in tumorigenesis. Significant down regulation in the microarray hybridization was observed for miR-205 in both tumors and elucidated its role in regulating the target gene FasAssociatedDeathDomain. Out of 351 miRNA detected, miR-205 was significantly low profiled/down regulated in liver tumor tissues compared to normal tissues and similar profile was identified out of 257 miRNA detected in thyroid tumors and make us understand the underlying synapses of targets for this miRNA interlinked with tumorigenic pathways. BLAST alignment for miRNA with its target FADD mRNA identified the extent of regulation by miR-205 in both tumor tissues. Further profiling of miRNA in rats provides valuable information on expression levels that regulate tumor generation, which could be extrapolated to understand human tumor development, as cell cycle marker genes are meant to be similar in most of the mammals.
